A family-run soft fruit company based in the heart of England producing 5,000 tonnes of soft fruit to the multiples.

 

Opportunity to join the team to improve, develop and maintain a good working environment encompassing the ethics of the business owners.

Job role details

A practical no non-sense approach for a hands-on role, where the candidate will assist in supervising the growing aspects of the business including a variety of responsibilities cultivating, co-ordinating planting, harvesting with casual personnel.

 

Utilising information, and data available from recording systems available on the farm. To generated to adjust, to assist in reviewing, scheduling fertigation, and understanding of the operational aspects of irrigation machinery and any other production equipment used, to maintain efficiencies.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Planning of planting, cultivation, propagation, prep, polytunnel, irrigation hydraulic installations and new projects introduced on the farm.

  • Ensuring farm records are maintained are always correct. 

  • Operating and maintaining farm equipment.

  • Health and Safety adherence with farm operations

  • Management costings and procurement of inputs

  • Assist in training of new personnel.

  • Strong organisation and communicational skills

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Good Team player

  • Work on own initiative if required

  • Not adverse to working anti-social hours. 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years growing experience ideally in the soft fruit industry and horticulture.

  • BASIS and FACTS 

  • Spray qualifications: PA1, PA 2A, PA3B, PA4, PA 6A (advantageous but not essential for all)

  • Telehandler, and excavator certification

  • First Aid qualification

  • Clean driving licence Class B.
