A family-run soft fruit company based in the heart of England producing 5,000 tonnes of soft fruit to the multiples.

 

Opportunity to join the team to improve, develop and maintain a good working environment encompassing the ethics of the business owners.

Job role details

 

Inspecting UK produced soft fruit, to meet customer specifications, legislative and traceability requirements.

Assessing and monitoring the soft fruit to meet the expectations of the multiple with a final grade. Heavily involved in the production and quality processes of the packhouse working with a team of at least 10 packhouse operatives per production line.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Inspecting soft fruit on intake

  • Online & Off-line QC checks and associated food safety and quality checks

  • Positive release

  • Shelf-life control and arrange samples to be despatched for taster panel assessments.

  • Conduct traceability and recall exercises

  • Checks on thermometers, refractometers and other associated packhouse equipment used.

  • Ability to present trending to management on food quality and safety.

  • Understanding of quality and food safety management systems in line with BRC accreditation.

  • Instruct packhouse operatives on the production line type of packaging to use and how to pack soft fruit produce. 

 

Key skills:

 

  • Good spoken and written English to assist in quality management systems to complete the associated documentation legibly, filed appropriately

  • Ability to flexible and anti-social hours working hours

  • Ability to speak Eastern Block Language – desirable but not necessary

  • Leadership skills and able to work on own initiative

  • Good communicator & excellent team player 

  • Positive can-do attitude.

Qualifications:

  • Quality controller experienced essential with min 1-2 years in soft fruit or fresh produce.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel, Word packages.
